Scott was born in San Diego, California, where he lived for 18 years before attending Duke University in North Carolina. In his hometown of Coronado, he grew up competing in football, basketball, and baseball, among others. During backpacking trips to California’s Sierra Nevada mountain range with his Dad, Scott developed an appreciation of the outdoors. After college he merged his competitive instincts and appreciation of nature and started competing in endurance racing – running, biking, paddling, skiing, etc. In 2005, he moved to Sweden and started EnviroEconomics Sweden. He finished his PhD in economics at SLU Umeå in 2012. In 2016 Scott took over as co-race director for the Åre Extreme Challenge multisport race.
